Budgam, May 20, KNT: District Administration Budgam on Wednesday demolished an illegal brick kiln in the Mulshulla area of Tehsil Beerwah for allegedly operating without authorization and in violation of environmental and land-use regulations, officials said.
The demolition was carried out as part of the district administration’s ongoing enforcement drive against unauthorized brick kiln operations.
Officials said the action was taken under relevant legal provisions and executed under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Beerwah.
The enforcement team included Tehsildar Beerwah, Station House Officer (SHO) Beerwah and other concerned officials.
The crackdown assumes significance as authorities in Budgam have stepped up measures against brick kilns allegedly functioning without required permissions and in contravention of environmental safeguards and land-use norms.
Officials said the kiln in Mulshulla was demolished following verification of violations linked to authorization and regulatory compliance.
The administration has been pursuing similar action across different parts of the district in recent days.
A similar demolition drive was also conducted in the Chadoora area of Budgam on May 19 as part of wider efforts to curb illegal brick kiln operations.
Authorities said the ongoing drive was aimed at ensuring adherence to environmental regulations and lawful land utilization.
No resistance or untoward incident was reported during the demolition operation.
Officials indicated that enforcement measures against unauthorized kiln operations would continue across the district. [KNT]
