Budgam, March 8, KNT: Police in Budgam district have registered a case against a man for allegedly circulating provocative and unverified videos on Instagram in connection with a recent protest linked to the Middle East situation in the Chadoora area.
Police said the videos were viewed as potentially inflammatory and capable of disturbing public order, prompting authorities to initiate legal action.
According to a police spokesperson, Police Station Chadoora received information that an individual had uploaded videos on Instagram related to a protest over the ongoing developments in the Middle East.
The individual was identified as Suhail Ahmad Bhat, son of Nazir Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Kuthipora Chadoora.
Police said the videos were uploaded on an Instagram account titled “Master Electrician” and were allegedly aimed at provoking youth and the general public.
Officials said the circulation of such content could create panic, disturb public order and negatively affect communal harmony in the area.
Following the inputs, police registered FIR No. 23/2026 at Police Station Chadoora under relevant sections of law and initiated further investigation.
Budgam Police also appealed to citizens to refrain from sharing unverified or provocative content on social media and urged the public to cooperate with authorities in maintaining peace and harmony in the district. [KNT]
