Bukhari Blames ‘70 Years of Politics’ for Current Crisis in Kashmir, Addresses Gathering in Srinagar’s Maisuma
Srinagar, April 4, KNT: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari addressed a gathering of party workers in the Maisuma area of Srinagar, criticizing mainstream political parties and raising concerns over the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The address, held in the heart of Srinagar, focused on political developments following the abrogation of Article 370, youth-related issues, and governance concerns.
Bukhari termed August 5, 2019, as a “tragedy” and said some political actors had supported or encouraged the abrogation of special status.
He said that people of Maisuma had made sacrifices and alleged that several youth from the area continue to face detention.
Referring to jailed separatist leader Yasin Malik, Bukhari said he should receive proper treatment.
He said the Kashmir issue would persist until underlying grievances are addressed and called for engagement with the youth.

The Apni Party leader urged the Union Home Minister to initiate dialogue, stating that young people were facing pressures and needed to be heard.
He also alleged that preventive detentions increase around national events and visits by senior leaders.
Bukhari said Jammu and Kashmir’s accession to India in 1947 is now a reality and stressed that people of the region are entitled to the same rights as citizens in other parts of the country.
He criticized governance issues, including electricity supply and employment, and said that youth were facing a lack of job opportunities.
Bukhari also criticized traditional political parties, including National Conference, Congress and PDP, blaming them for the present situation.
The Apni Party chief urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister to visit Srinagar and assess the situation on the ground, particularly in areas like Maisuma.
He appealed for an end to what he described as harassment of youth and called for dignity and respect for the people of Kashmir.
Bukhari also urged people to maintain peace and not allow themselves to be exploited politically. [KNT]
