Chief Election Commissioner Describes BLOs as Backbone of Electoral Process

Budgam, June 29, KNT: Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on Monday described Booth Level Officers (BLOs) as the “backbone of the electoral process” while commending their role in strengthening democracy during an interaction with election functionaries in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
During the interaction, the Chief Election Commissioner appreciated the dedication and hard work of the Booth Level Officers and acknowledged their contribution to ensuring the smooth conduct of elections at the grassroots level.
He emphasized that BLOs play a pivotal role in maintaining electoral rolls, facilitating voter registration and ensuring that the electoral process remains free, fair and inclusive.
The interaction formed part of the Chief Election Commissioner’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir, during which he reviewed grassroots electoral preparedness and engaged directly with field-level election officials.
The Election Commission has been holding such interactions to strengthen coordination with election functionaries and enhance the efficiency of electoral management across the country. [KNT]
