China and Pakistan have jointly proposed a five-point peace initiative aimed at ending the ongoing Iran war, calling for an immediate ceasefire and the launch of diplomatic dialogue to resolve the conflict.
The proposal comes amid growing international concern over the widening regional impact of the war, including disruptions to global energy supplies and rising geopolitical tensions.
The initiative is significant as it positions Beijing and Islamabad as potential mediators at a time when Western-led diplomatic efforts have struggled to secure a breakthrough.
Officials from both countries called for an immediate halt to hostilities, stressing that dialogue remains the only viable path to stability in West Asia.
The proposal also includes measures to ensure maritime security and safeguard key energy routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, a critical artery for global oil shipments.
Chinese officials emphasized the need to protect civilian infrastructure and prevent further escalation, while Pakistani authorities highlighted the importance of coordinated international efforts.

Both countries reiterated that unilateral military actions risk prolonging the conflict and deepening humanitarian and economic consequences.
Diplomatic observers say the joint proposal reflects increasing involvement of non-Western powers in efforts to shape the outcome of the conflict.
Public reactions in the region remain limited, though concerns over rising fuel prices and economic instability have been widely reported.
The Iran war, which began in late February following U.S.-Israeli strikes, has expanded across multiple fronts, involving regional actors and disrupting global markets.
Repeated attempts at mediation by various countries have so far failed to produce a comprehensive ceasefire, underscoring the complexity of the conflict.
Analysts say the China-Pakistan proposal could test the willingness of major powers to shift toward a multilateral diplomatic approach.
