Clash Breaks Out Among Inmates Inside Rajouri Jail, Security Tightened

Rajouri, March 8, KNT: A clash broke out among inmates inside a jail in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday after a heated argument between two prisoners escalated into a scuffle, officials said.
According to officials, the altercation began between two inmates,one from Kashmir and the other from Rajouri, inside the prison premises.
The argument soon intensified, drawing in other prisoners and triggering a clash among several inmates.
During the scuffle, some inmates allegedly pelted stones at prison guards, prompting authorities to intervene to restore order inside the jail.
Officials said prison staff and security personnel acted promptly to bring the situation under control.
Additional personnel were subsequently deployed inside and around the prison premises as a precautionary measure.
Authorities said security in the jail has been tightened to prevent any further disturbance.
Officials added that the situation is currently under control and necessary measures are being taken to maintain discipline within the prison. [KNT]
