Cloudburst Triggers Flood-Like Situation in Gurez’s Tulail Valley

Bandipora, June 16, KNT: A cloudburst triggered a flood-like situation in Tartei Kilshay village of Tulail Valley in Gurez area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, causing damage to residential houses and agricultural land.

Officials said the cloudburst struck the village during the evening hours, resulting in a sudden influx of water and debris that entered several houses and inundated cultivated fields. The incident created panic among residents, who rushed to safer locations as water levels rose rapidly.

Tehsildar Tulail, Javid Ahmad, confirmed the incident and said the cloudburst caused damage to crops and residential properties in the affected village.

“The cloudburst resulted in a flood-like situation in Tartei Kilshay village. Water entered several residential houses and damaged agricultural crops. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported,” he said.

Following the incident, revenue officials and local authorities reached the area to assess the extent of the damage and monitor the situation.

Poeple have appealed to the administration for immediate relief and compensation for losses suffered due to the natural calamity.

Officials said a detailed assessment of the damage is underway and necessary assistance will be provided to the affected families. [KNT]
