Congress Backs INDIA Bloc’s Call to Restore Land, Job Rights and Statehood to J&K

New Delhi, August 5, KNT: Congress MP Pawan Khera on Wednesday described the events of August 5, 2019 as a “dark act”, alleging that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were deprived of their dignity, constitutional rights and statehood following the Centre’s decision to abrogate Article 370 and reorganise the erstwhile state.
Addressing reporters after the INDIA bloc’s joint protest in Parliament, Khera said the united opposition had marched together to press for the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that the issue went beyond party politics and concerned the rights of the people.
He said the opposition was also demanding the restoration of constitutional protections relating to land, employment and access to opportunities and resources, maintaining that these rights should be returned to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Khera said the Congress and other opposition parties would continue raising the issue until the Centre fulfilled its commitment on restoring statehood and constitutional rights. [KNT]
