Crime Branch Arrests Fake Job Agent Promising Jobs in Armenia

Srinagar, March 6, KNT: The Special Crime Wing (SCW) of Crime Branch Kashmir has arrested a long-evading fraudster accused of cheating several youth from Srinagar by promising overseas jobs, particularly in Armenia.
Officials said a special team of SCW tracked down and apprehended the accused, identified as Farhat Abbas Malik, son of Din Mohammad Malik, a resident of Tendla Chilipingal in Doda district.
According to investigators, the accused had been evading arrest for several months in connection with FIR No. 02/2025 registered at Police Station SCW Crime Branch Kashmir.
Police said Malik allegedly lured unemployed youth by promising job placements abroad, collecting money from them under the pretext of arranging employment in foreign countries.
Following his arrest, the accused was produced before a competent court in Srinagar after the investigating team obtained transit remand from the Duty Magistrate Court in Faridabad, officials said.
The Crime Branch said further investigation is underway to ascertain the extent of the fraud and identify other victims or possible accomplices.
Meanwhile, the Special Crime Wing advised the public, particularly unemployed youth, to verify the authenticity of job placement agencies and consultancies before making any payments.
Officials urged job seekers to remain vigilant and avoid falling prey to fraudulent overseas job offers. [KNT]
