New Delhi, Feb 16, KNT: The Delhi High Court on Monday granted interim bail to Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav in a cheque bounce case, allowing him temporary relief to attend a family function.
The actor had approached the court seeking bail to attend his niece’s wedding scheduled for February 19 in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. During the proceedings, it was informed that Yadav has paid Rs 1.5 lakh to the complainant.
While granting interim bail, the court directed the actor to surrender his passport, if not already deposited, and to furnish a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh along with a surety of an equal amount. The court further directed that he shall not leave the country without prior permission.
The High Court listed the matter for further hearing on March 18. It directed Rajpal Yadav to remain present either physically before the court on the next date or to join the proceedings through video conference if professional commitments prevent his personal appearance.
Further proceedings in the case will continue on the scheduled date. [KNT]
