Jammu, March 28, KNT: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Singh Choudhary on Saturday criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that it has “nothing to offer” to the people and is raising immaterial issues in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing media persons in Jammu, Choudhary urged journalists to question the BJP on key issues, including the number of outsiders who have purchased land and secured government jobs in the Union Territory.
“Media should ask how many people from outside have purchased land in Jammu and how many outsiders have secured government jobs,” he said.
The remarks come amid ongoing political exchanges between the ruling National Conference and the opposition BJP over governance and policy matters.
Referring to promises made during election rallies, Choudhary said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, but no such step has been taken so far.
He also criticized the BJP for discontinuing the Darbar Move, calling it a significant administrative decision taken during the party’s tenure.
The Deputy Chief Minister alleged that sections of the media in Jammu were not raising “genuine questions” with the BJP, while expressing concern over what he termed as selective scrutiny.
Choudhary further said that the National Conference is not anti-Jammu, countering claims made by the BJP, and accused the party of damaging the interests of Jammu and Kashmir.
He also expressed disappointment that people in Jammu did not condemn the recent attack on National Conference president Farooq Abdullah. [KNT]
