Jammu, March 9, KNT: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary has ordered an enquiry into the design and execution of the Hare Peer Bridge at Sai Kalan in the RS Pura border area after expressing concern over alleged technical shortcomings in the project.
The direction came during the Deputy Chief Minister’s inspection of the ongoing restoration work of the bridge, where he reviewed the progress and raised questions over the design and quality of execution.
Officials said Choudhary took strong notice of the delay and deficiencies observed in the project and directed the concerned authorities to conduct a detailed enquiry into the matter.
During the inspection, the Deputy Chief Minister also rebuked the officials present at the site when they failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the design issues of the bridge.
He stressed that permanent restoration of the structure must be ensured and asked the authorities to strengthen and protect the existing infrastructure so that connectivity in the border area is not affected.
The Deputy Chief Minister further directed that the work be completed at the earliest to facilitate smooth movement for the inhabitants of the area who depend on the bridge for daily connectivity.
