Doda, July 1, KNT: Torrential rainfall triggered flash floods and debris flows in the Gandoh area of Doda district on Wednesday, damaging residential houses, blocking roads and disrupting normal life across several localities.

The sudden surge of water and debris inundated vulnerable areas, affecting road connectivity and causing damage to private property, while residents struggled to cope with the aftermath of the heavy downpour.

Following the incident, teams from the district administration and other concerned departments were rushed to the affected areas to assess the situation, clear blocked roads and undertake restoration work.

Officials said efforts were underway to restore normalcy and ensure that essential services and road connectivity were revived at the earliest. The extent of the damage is being assessed.

Authorities have advised people living in vulnerable areas to remain vigilant as intermittent rainfall continues, warning that fresh spells of rain could trigger further landslides or flash floods. [KNT]
