New Delhi, June 12, KNT: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to review security and administrative preparedness for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, bringing together the country’s top security and intelligence leadership ahead of the annual pilgrimage.

The meeting assumed significance as authorities finalize arrangements for one of the largest religious pilgrimages in the country, which attracts thousands of devotees to the Himalayan cave shrine each year.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, CRPF Director General G.P. Singh and other senior officials attended the review meeting.

Reports said the discussions focused on overall preparedness for the pilgrimage, including security deployment, intelligence coordination, route management, emergency response mechanisms and measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the Yatra.

The review comes amid extensive preparations by security agencies and the Jammu and Kashmir administration for the annual pilgrimage, which traverses challenging mountainous terrain and requires elaborate logistical and security arrangements.

The presence of the country’s top security, intelligence and administrative officials underscored the importance being attached to ensuring a safe and incident-free Yatra.

Amarnath Ji Yatra is scheduled to commence later this month, with authorities expected to intensify ground-level preparations in the coming days. [KNT]
