
India registered a commanding 72-run victory over Zimbabwe in a high-scoring T20 encounter, setting up a clash against the West Indies on March 1.
Batting first, India piled up a massive 256 for 4 in the allotted 20 overs. Half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma and Hardik Pandya laid the foundation for the imposing total as the Indian batters dominated the Zimbabwe attack throughout the innings.
In reply, Zimbabwe fought hard but could only manage 184 for 6 in their 20 overs. Brian Bennett was the standout performer for Zimbabwe with a fighting 97, narrowly missing out on a century. Injured skipper Sikandar Raza contributed 31 runs but could not steer his side closer to the target.
India’s bowlers maintained control despite the aggressive approach from Bennett, ensuring the asking rate continued to climb as the innings progressed.
