The Embassy of India in Tehran has relocated most Indian students from Tehran city to safer locations outside the capital amid heightened risk perception in the Iranian capital.
In an advisory and update issued on March 3, 2026, the Embassy stated that arrangements have been made for transportation, food and accommodation of the relocated students. Only a small number of students who declined the Embassy’s offer continue to remain in Tehran.
For other Indian students and nationals still in Iran, the Embassy said the earlier advisory remains unchanged. It has advised citizens to stay where they are, remain indoors as far as possible and avoid staying near windows. Nationals have been asked to exercise caution at all times, avoid areas of protests or demonstrations, and remain in regular contact with the Embassy.
