Iran Rejects Trump’s Talks Claim as US Floats 15-Point War Plan; Israel to Continue Strikes

Iran has rejected claims by former US President Donald Trump that negotiations are underway to end the ongoing conflict, with officials in Tehran dismissing the assertions as unfounded and misleading.

The denial comes as reports indicate that the United States has conveyed a 15-point proposal aimed at ending the war, including demands related to Iran’s nuclear programme, missile capabilities and regional influence.

Iranian officials have, however, publicly rejected the existence of any direct talks, with some describing the proposal as unrealistic and accusing Washington of “negotiating with itself.”

Despite diplomatic signals, military operations continue across the region, underscoring the disconnect between political messaging and ground realities.

Israel, which is not part of the reported diplomatic efforts, has indicated it will continue its military campaign against Iran, with its ambassador to the United Nations reiterating that operations will proceed independently of any negotiations.

The divergence highlights a key contradiction in the evolving crisis, with parallel tracks of diplomacy and escalation unfolding simultaneously.

Separately, Cyprus has sought a new security arrangement for British military bases on the island following recent regional tensions and reported drone threats, according to media reports.

The request reflects growing concern among regional actors over the spillover risks of the conflict, particularly for strategic installations linked to Western powers.

Analysts say the situation remains fluid, with mediation efforts by countries including Pakistan and Turkey continuing, even as trust between Washington and Tehran remains low and hostilities persist.

The Middle East conflict, now marked by both intensifying strikes and uncertain diplomatic overtures, continues to pose risks to global security and energy markets. [KNT]
