J&K LG Suspends IPS Officer Over Financial Irregularities

Srinagar, April 4, KNT: The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir has placed IPS officer Sanjeev Kumar Khajuria under suspension with immediate effect, pending an inquiry into alleged financial irregularities, officials said.

Khajuria was serving as Commandant of JKAP-4 Security Battalion and was also holding the additional charge of Commandant, 1st Border Battalion Jammu at the time of the action.

The suspension was ordered through Government Order No. 185-Home of 2026 dated March 25, 2026.

The action assumes significance as the allegations relate to financial handling within a police unit, including funds linked to personnel.

According to the order, the officer is facing allegations of misappropriation of General Provident (GP) funds and irregularities in income tax deductions concerning police personnel of the JKAP-4 Security Battalion.

The inquiry has been initiated to examine the extent of the alleged irregularities and to ascertain accountability.
