Kargil Notifies Returning Officers, Assistant Returning Officers for Panchayat Elections
Kargil, Sep 30: KNT: The District Panchayat Election Officer, Kargil, has notified the list of Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers for the conduct of Panchayat elections in the district, marking a key administrative step towards the electoral process in Ladakh.
The notification, issued by Deputy Commissioner and District Panchayat Election Officer Rakesh Kumar was issued under Rule 5 of the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Rules, 1996.
According to the notification, the Election Commission for Union Territories had accorded approval on September 25 to the appointment of Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers for Panchayat elections in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The approval was conveyed through the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, UT Ladakh.
The notified list covers Panchayat Halqas across different blocks of Kargil district, with designated officers drawn from various departments including Horticulture, Public Works, Power Development, Education, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Mechanical Engineering, Public Health Engineering and other government departments.
The annexure specifies the Panchayat Halqas assigned to each Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officer, along with the number of Panchayat constituencies, headquarters and designated locations for election-related duties.
The notification has been circulated to senior officials including the Divisional Commissioner, Secretary and Director of the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, District Panchayat Officer, Kargil, and other concerned authorities for information and necessary action.
The appointment of the election officers comes as part of the administrative preparations for the conduct of Panchayat elections in Kargil district. [KNT]
