Leh, July 21, KNT: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Leh, has issued a weather advisory for the period from July 22 to July 25, warning of incessant light to moderate rainfall at various places across Leh district and urging residents, tourists and government departments to remain vigilant.

The advisory, issued on the basis of the latest forecast received from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), cautions that the expected rainfall may disrupt road connectivity, power supply and communication services, besides posing risks to life and property in vulnerable areas.

The administration has advised the general public to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly through hilly, flood-prone and landslide-vulnerable areas during the forecast period.

Tourists, trekkers and other travellers have been urged to strictly adhere to official advisories and refrain from venturing into vulnerable locations until weather conditions improve.

The DDMA has directed all concerned departments, including the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Tehsildar Leh, Municipal Committee, Irrigation and Flood Control Department, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Public Health Engineering Department, Power Development Department, Roads and Buildings Department, Health Department, Police, UTDRF and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), to remain on high alert and ensure preparedness to respond to any emergency.

The advisory also instructs all departments to keep machinery, emergency response teams and essential resources in operational readiness to facilitate immediate response in the event of weather-related incidents.

Residents have been urged to remain updated through official weather bulletins and follow instructions issued by the district administration throughout the advisory period. [KNT]
