Leopard Found Dead in Shopian, Postmortem Conducted by Authorities

Shopian, April 7, KNT: A leopard was found dead in the Gorsi Nallah area of Zampatgri in Keller belt of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said on Tuesday.

The carcass was recovered by the Department of Wildlife after locals alerted authorities about the presence of the animal in the area.

Officials said the leopard was retrieved from the site and taken for examination to ascertain the cause of death.

A postmortem of the animal was conducted at the Animal Husbandry Department, they said, adding that further details regarding the cause of death are awaited.

Authorities have initiated necessary procedures following the recovery, while officials said they are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident. [KNT]
