Man dies after drowning incident in Srinagar’s Babademb area

Srinagar, March 22, KNT: A 48-year-old man died after a drowning incident in the Babademb area of Srinagar on Sunday, officials said.

The incident occurred near Dawood bridge in Munawar Abad locality, where the individual was reportedly found drowning in the Jhelum River, prompting an immediate response from police.

A police party from Khanayar Police Station shifted the man to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, after he was initially taken to JLNM Hospital, Rainawari.

Doctors at SMHS Hospital declared him brought dead upon arrival, officials said.

The deceased has been identified as Jan Mohammad Bhat, son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat, a resident of Gasi Mohallah Safakadal in Srinagar.

Police said further proceedings have been initiated to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.  [KNT]
