Man Suffers Critical Burn Injuries in Alleged Suicide Attempt in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 19, KNT: A 32-year-old man sustained critical burn injuries in an alleged suicide attempt at his residence in the Mehjoor Nagar area of Srinagar and was shifted to SMHS Hospital for treatment, officials said on Tuesday.

The injured man was identified as Zaid Amin, a resident of Mehjoor Nagar.

Officials said he was brought to SMHS Hospital with severe burn injuries after the incident.

According to the statement of his attendant, the man allegedly attempted suicide by pouring thinner on himself at his home.

Medical sources said the patient suffered approximately 95 percent burn injuries and his condition was stated to be critical.

Police were expected to initiate legal proceedings and ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident. [KNT]
