Jammu, March 8, KNT: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday said they busted an alleged prostitution racket operating in the Greater Kailash area of Jammu city and rescued three teenage girls during a raid conducted at a residential house.

Police said three persons, including a woman, were arrested in connection with the case during the operation.

The raid was carried out following specific information received by police about immoral activities allegedly being conducted at a house owned by Amreek Singh in the locality.

According to a police spokesperson, a police team conducted a search operation at the premises and rescued three teenage girls who were allegedly being exploited at the location.

Officials said preliminary investigation suggests that the house was allegedly being used as a base for trafficking activities where women were procured and induced into prostitution.

Police said certain individuals present at the premises were allegedly engaging the girls in prostitution in exchange for money.

The arrested persons are suspected to be part of a network involved in facilitating the illegal activities, police said, adding that further investigation is underway to identify other persons possibly linked to the racket.

Authorities said the rescued girls have been shifted to a safe place and further procedures are being carried out as per law.

Police also said that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act at Police Station Channi Himmat in Jammu.

Officials said legal proceedings in the matter have been initiated and further investigation is underway to ascertain the extent of the racket.

Police said strict action will be taken against all those found involved in trafficking and exploitation activities. [KNT]
