Srinagar, May 18, KNT: A truck driver from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is battling for life at SMHS Hospital Srinagar after sustaining severe burn injuries in a gas leakage incident inside his vehicle in New Delhi, attendants and hospital sources said Monday.
The injured has been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat, 35, son of Ghulam Qadir Bhat, a resident of Malangpora area of Awantipora in Pulwama district.
According to attendants accompanying the injured driver, the incident occurred on May 14 at Transport Nagar in New Delhi, when a gas leak reportedly occurred while he was cooking inside the truck. The leakage triggered a fire-like incident, leaving the driver with serious burn injuries.
Soon after the incident, the injured driver was shifted to Lok Nayak Hospital at Jawaharlal Nehru Marg in New Delhi, where he underwent initial treatment.
The attendants said that after remaining admitted in Delhi for several days, he was later shifted to Srinagar for further treatment and specialized care.
Officials at SMHS Hospital Srinagar confirmed that the injured driver was brought to the hospital and his condition presently remains critical. [KNT]
