Overnight Srinagar Road Accidents Leave Eight Injured Across Three Separate Incidents

Srinagar, May 9, KNT: Eight persons sustained injuries, several of them critical, in three separate road traffic accidents reported overnight in Srinagar and adjoining areas, officials said on Saturday.

In the first incident, two persons were injured in a road accident at Dumail Crossing in the Narbal area during the night. Both injured persons were shifted to JVC Hospital Bemina for treatment.

The injured were identified as Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mohd Ayoub Sheikh and a resident of Zanikote, Srinagar, and Muzammil Ahmad Dar, son of Shabir Ahmad Dar, also a resident of Zanikote.

Hospital sources said Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh, 26, sustained severe head trauma and remains in critical condition. Muzammil Ahmad Dar, 23, suffered injuries to both legs along with head trauma and is also stated to be critical.

In another accident, two persons were injured after the driver of an Alto vehicle allegedly lost control near Astan Sharief Kirmani Abad, close to a petrol pump.

Officials said the injured persons were shifted to JVC Hospital Bemina in critical condition immediately after the incident. The vehicle involved in the accident bears registration number JK01M-9757.

Meanwhile, in a third road accident, police from Police Station Harwan shifted three injured persons to SKIMS Soura after they were referred from PHC Dargah.

According to the police, the injured persons were travelling on a scooty when they were hit by an unidentified vehicle near Shalimar, resulting in multiple injuries.

The injured were identified as Hashim Rather, son of Ajaz Ahmad Rather, Shabir Ahmad Dar, son of Farooq Ahmad Dar, and Imraan Ahmad Lone, son of Nazir Ahmad Lone. All three are residents of Brein Nishat.

Hospital officials said Hashim Rather, 20, is stated to be normal so far, while Shabir Ahmad Dar, 32, is stable. Imraan Ahmad Lone, 24, remains in critical condition.

Police have taken cognizance of the incidents and further investigation is underway. [KNT]
