New Delhi, July 13, KNT: A Delhi court has allowed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to dispose of the biological remains recovered from the scene of the November 2025 Red Fort car bomb explosion, including those of the deceased victims and the alleged mastermind, Dr. Umar Un Nabi of Kashmir, after the investigating agency informed the court that all forensic examinations had been completed.

The order was passed by the Patiala House Court, which directed the NIA to carry out the disposal with full human dignity and in accordance with the respective religious beliefs of the deceased. The court has also sought a compliance report from the agency after the process is completed.

During the hearing, the NIA submitted that all evidentiary material had already been extracted from the biological remains and that retaining them any longer served no investigative purpose as decomposition had set in.

The order relates to the high-profile Red Fort blast of November 10, 2025, in which 11 people were killed and several others injured after an explosives-laden vehicle detonated near the historic monument in the national capital. The explosion triggered a nationwide investigation that was subsequently taken over by the NIA.

According to the NIA’s chargesheet, Dr. Umar Un Nabi, an Assistant Professor from South Kashmir’s Pulwama, was identified as the principal accused who died in the explosion. Investigators have alleged that he was part of a sophisticated “white-collar module” comprising educated individuals who allegedly planned and facilitated the conspiracy. The agency has since filed a 7,500-page chargesheet against multiple accused, while investigations into the wider network remain in progress.

The latest order enables the NIA to conclude one of the remaining procedural aspects of the case while the trial against the surviving accused continues before the Special Court. [KNT]
