Retired Headmaster Injured in Srinagar Road Accident Succumbs at SMHS Hospital

Srinagar, June 19, KNT: A retired headmaster who sustained critical injuries in a road accident near Security Line Batmaloo in Srinagar on Wednesday has succumbed to his injuries at SMHS Hospital, officials said.

The deceased has been identified as Sharief-ud-Din Wani (72), son of Ghulam Hassan Wani, a resident of MIG Colony, Bemina.

Officials said Wani was injured after the scooter he was riding met with an accident in Batmaloo. Following the mishap, he was shifted to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, where he was admitted to the Neurosurgery Ward for specialized treatment.

Despite strenuous efforts by doctors, the septuagenarian succumbed to his injuries today, hospital sources said.

Wani was a retired headmaster and was well known in his locality for his long service in the education sector.

Following his death, police have initiated inquest proceedings and further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is underway. [KNT]
