Kulgam, March 29, KNT: Minister for Education, Social Welfare, Health and Medical Education Sakeena Itoo on Sunday felicitated meritorious students who secured top positions in the Class 12 examinations during a ‘Mega Shining Star’ ceremony held at Government Degree College (GDC) Kulgam.
The event was organised by the Directorate of School Education Kashmir in collaboration with CT University Ludhiana and GDC Kulgam, bringing together students, teachers and officials to celebrate academic excellence.
The ceremony highlights ongoing efforts to recognise student achievements and promote a culture of education and merit across Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the gathering, Sakeena Itoo congratulated the toppers for their dedication and perseverance, saying their success reflects both individual effort and the support of teachers and families.
“Students and youth are the true architects of Jammu and Kashmir’s future. Your achievements symbolize hope, progress and the transformative power of education,” she said.
The Minister underlined the government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector, noting that several initiatives are underway to improve infrastructure, enhance digital learning and ensure equal opportunities for students in urban and rural areas.
She said delivering quality education remains a top priority, describing it as a cornerstone for sustainable development and social empowerment in the Union Territory.
Highlighting the role of educators, she appreciated teachers for nurturing talent and guiding students despite challenges, stating that they are central to building a progressive society.
Sakeena Itoo also said that youth from Jammu and Kashmir are excelling across sectors including medical science, civil services and engineering.
During an interaction with students, she encouraged them to set ambitious goals and assured continued government support through scholarships, skill development programmes and career guidance initiatives.
She further urged students to adopt innovation, critical thinking and social responsibility in their academic and professional pursuits.
Director School Education Kashmir Naseer Ahmad Wani, Director Colleges Dr. Sheikh Aijaz Bashir, Chief Education Officer Kulgam and other senior officials, along with representatives from CT University Ludhiana, faculty members, parents and students were present on the occasion. [KNT]
