Security Personnel Declared Dead After Falling Unconscious in South Kashmir

Shopian March 28, KNT: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel died after being found unconscious in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday, officials said.

The deceased was identified as Gayan Chand, also known as Ashok Kumar, a resident of Arazi Samba in Jammu, who was posted at the CRPF headquarters in Shopian.

The incident comes amid routine deployment of security forces in the district, where the personnel reportedly fell unconscious under circumstances that are yet to be ascertained.

Officials said the trooper was immediately shifted to the District Hospital Shopian for treatment after he was found in an unconscious state.

“He was declared brought dead by doctors at the hospital,” an official said.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated proceedings under relevant sections of law to ascertain the cause of death.  [KNT]
