Anantnag, July 9, KNT: The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Anantnag, has disengaged a Special Police Officer (SPO) for alleged dereliction of duty during the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026.

The police said that SSP Anantnag Amod Ashok Nagpure ordered the disengagement of Shabir Ahmad Ganie, son of Abdul Hamid Ganie, a resident of Primegam, Hiller Shahabad, Dooru.

Police said the SPO had been detailed for deployment on Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra duty but allegedly failed to report at his assigned place of deployment despite being nominated and directed to do so.

The police added that the officer neither reported for duty nor obtained prior permission or furnished any valid justification for his absence, which was viewed as gross negligence and indiscipline during an important security assignment.

Taking serious note of the alleged misconduct, the SSP ordered his immediate disengagement from service.  [KNT]
