SSP Anantnag Removes SPO from Service Over Alleged Drug Case Involvement

Anantnag, April 17, KNT: The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag has disengaged a Special Police Officer (SPO) from service after he was found to be involved in a case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, officials said on Friday.

The SPO, identified as Mohammad Ashraf Malik, son of Mohammad Ramzan Malik and a resident of Kuchal in Kishtawar, was linked to FIR No. 57/2023 registered at Police Station Devsar under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act.

Officials said that the department took serious note of his involvement in the case and initiated appropriate disciplinary action, leading to his disengagement from service.

The action is part of a broader effort by the police to enforce accountability and maintain discipline within the force.

Anantnag Police reiterated that it follows a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of misconduct or involvement in unlawful activities by its personnel.
