Suspected Drone Movement Triggers Security Operation Along International Border in Samba
Jammu, March 10, KNT: Security forces launched a search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district after suspected drone activity was detected near the International Border late Monday night, officials said.
Officials said the suspected movement of a drone was noticed in the Daboh area along the International Border, prompting security agencies to activate countermeasures and increase surveillance in the sector.
Following the alert, joint teams of the Army, Border Security Force and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a search operation to scan the area and ensure that no weapons, explosives or narcotics were dropped.
Officials said additional deployments were made in the border belt while security personnel conducted intensive searches in nearby fields and vulnerable locations.
The search operation continued through the night as forces combed the area using surveillance equipment and ground patrols.
Meanwhile, security forces also carried out search operations in Bhai Nallah, Lala Chack and Malani areas of Rajpura in Samba district after receiving information about suspicious movement.
Officials said the searches were conducted as a precautionary measure to rule out any infiltration attempt or smuggling of contraband across the border.
Drone sightings along the International Border in Jammu region have been reported intermittently in recent years, with security agencies stating that such drones are often used to drop arms, ammunition or narcotics.
Authorities said vigilance along the border has been intensified and further investigation into the suspected drone activity is underway. [KNT]
