Dry Weather Expected on May 17-18 After Rain Spell Across Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, May 16, KNT: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast partly to generally cloudy weather with light rain, thundershowers, and gusty winds at scattered to many places across Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

According to the weather department, conditions are expected to remain generally dry on May 17 and 18 before another spell of light rain and thundershowers affects scattered areas on May 19 and 20.

The Meteorological Department has also issued an advisory warning of thunder, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds reaching 40 to 50 kilometers per hour at a few places in both Kashmir and Jammu divisions during May 15 and 16.

Authorities have advised people to remain cautious during periods of intense weather activity, particularly in the afternoon and late afternoon hours.

The advisory specifically recommended suspension of boating and shikara rides during vulnerable hours due to the possibility of strong winds over water bodies, including Dal Lake and other lakes across Kashmir.

Officials said localized weather disturbances could also lead to temporary disruption in outdoor activities and movement in some areas. [KNT]
