
Katra, June 15, KNT: Security personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered and returned a lost bag containing ₹72,220 in cash and important identity documents to its rightful owner after a coordinated search operation involving Katra and Sanjichhat helipads.
The incident came to light when Vipin Sonkar approached the office of the Incharge Helipad Katra and reported that he had misplaced a bag carrying cash and personal documents. He informed officials that the bag might have been left either at Katra Helipad or Sanjichhat Helipad.
Following the complaint, security personnel immediately launched inquiries at both heliports and questioned employees and staff deployed at the locations regarding the missing bag.
During the search, SI Girdhari Lal, who was on duty at Sanjichhat Helipad, reported the recovery of an unattended bag. Preliminary verification established that the recovered bag matched the description provided by the complainant.
The bag was subsequently transported by helicopter and received by officials at Serli Helipad for further verification.
Upon opening the bag, officials found ₹72,220 in cash along with an Aadhaar card and other identity documents belonging to the owner.
After completing ownership verification and legal formalities, the recovered cash and belongings were handed over to Vipin Sonkar against proper documentation and in the presence of witnesses.
The complainant expressed gratitude to the security personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police for their prompt response and dedicated efforts in tracing and returning the lost property.
The recovery has been appreciated as an example of professional policing and effective coordination by security personnel deployed along the pilgrimage route. [KNT]
