FIRs Against Ruhullah, Mattu ‘Egregiously Unwarranted’: Mehbooba

Srinagar, Mar 4, KNT: Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday termed the cases registered against National Conference MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi and former Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu as “egregiously unwarranted” and called for their immediate withdrawal.
Reacting to the registration of FIRs by Jammu and Kashmir Police for allegedly circulating false and misleading content on digital platforms, the former Chief Minister said booking the two leaders was unjustified.
“The FIR against Aga Ruhullah and Junaid Azim Mattu is egregiously unwarranted and unjust. It must be withdrawn immediately,” Mehbooba said in a post on X.
She further stated that differing views on international developments should not invite legal action. Referring to the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, she said that silence by the Government of India and the National Conference government in Jammu and Kashmir on what she termed “blatant aggression” did not mean that those who chose to speak out should be treated as offenders.
Police had on Tuesday registered cases against the two leaders, alleging circulation of false, fabricated and misleading content capable of disturbing public order. Investigations in the matter are underway. [KNT
