Jammu, April 26, KNT: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chowdary on Sunday accused the BJP of creating divisions between Jammu and Kashmir over the establishment of educational institutions, while questioning the party’s stance on leadership positions in Jammu-based institutes.
Chowdary said that if institutions in Kashmir, including universities, have local leadership, similar standards should not be selectively applied in Jammu. He questioned why appointments from outside Jammu and Kashmir in key educational institutions in Jammu were not being highlighted by the BJP.
He criticized Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, alleging that his statements reflect selective concern. Chowdary said that if Sharma genuinely represents the interests of Jammu, he should clarify the rationale behind appointing individuals from outside the region to head major educational institutions in Jammu.
The Deputy Chief Minister also referred to the ongoing political debate surrounding the National Law University, accusing the BJP of raising selective issues while avoiding questions related to appointments already made in Jammu.
He said the issue of institutional leadership should be addressed uniformly across regions, without what he described as political bias or selective outrage. [KNT]
