Awantipora, Sep 25, KNT: Police in Awantipora have arrested a Physical Education Teacher (PET) in connection with a case involving alleged sexual harassment of a 15-year-old girl in the Aripal area of Tral.
Police said a written complaint was lodged at Police Post Aripal on September 24 alleging sexual harassment of the minor by Bilal Ahmad Lone, son of Gh. Nabi Lone, a resident of Darganigund, who is posted as a Physical Education Teacher at Government High School Lam, Aripal.
Following the complaint, FIR No. 107/2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered at Police Station Tral and investigation initiated.
Police said a team led by the Incharge Police Post Aripal conducted the investigation and, through technical and human intelligence, established the alleged involvement of the accused.
The accused was subsequently apprehended and arrested, police said, adding that further investigation is underway.
Police reiterated its commitment to protecting children and said legal action would be taken against those involved in offences against minors in accordance with law. [KNT]
