Teenage Girl Dies After Blocked PMGSY Road Delays Medical Treatment in Rajouri, AEE Suspended
Rajouri, Aug 8, KNT: A 17-year-old girl died after an allegedly blocked PMGSY road delayed her transportation to a hospital in Rajouri district, prompting Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abishek Sharma to suspend an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) and issue a show-cause notice to the concerned Executive Engineer.
The deceased has been identified as 17-year-old Parveena Akhtar, daughter of Abdul Aziz, a resident of Plangar in the Kalakot-Methani area.
Sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that Parveena was unwell and was being taken to a hospital on a cot when the blocked condition of the Kalakot-Methani PMGSY road reportedly hampered the movement, delaying her access to medical treatment.
Following the girl’s death, the District Administration Rajouri took action against the officials concerned, with the AEE suspended and the Executive Engineer, PMGSY, served a show-cause notice over the condition of the road.
The incident has raised serious concerns over the condition and accessibility of the road, particularly its impact on emergency medical access for residents of remote areas.
The administrative action comes amid questions over the failure to ensure road connectivity for villagers dependent on the PMGSY route for access to essential services, including healthcare. [KNT]
