Sajad Lone Opposes TET for In-Service Teachers, Calls It “Grave Injustice”

Srinagar, Feb 25, KNT: People’s Conference president Sajad Lone on Wednesday criticized the move to subject in-service teachers in Jammu and Kashmir to the Teacher Eligibility Test, terming it a “grave injustice” and urging the Union Territory administration to explore all possible avenues for relief.
In a social media post, Lone said that teachers who have already been serving in schools for years deserve stability and respect rather than uncertainty. He appealed to the J&K government to press the Centre to reconsider the implementation of TET for existing teaching staff.
Lone further claimed that there is a growing sentiment across the country demanding legislative intervention to halt the enforcement of TET for in-service teachers. He expressed hope that the government would align with such demands instead of proceeding with what he described as a potentially damaging step.
The former minister also criticised the outsourcing of thousands of government jobs, alleging that companies entrusted with outsourced positions have contributed to wider societal concerns.
His remarks come amid ongoing debate over the implementation of TET guidelines in Jammu and Kashmir, following recent developments in the School Education Department. [KNT]
