The incident occurred during the 101st over of J&K’s first innings when Dogra edged a delivery from Prasidh Krishna for four. Following the boundary, a verbal exchange took place between Dogra and Aneesh, who was fielding at forward short leg. Eyewitness accounts from the ground indicated that after sustained on-field exchanges, Dogra headbutted Aneesh’s helmet, prompting immediate intervention from the umpires.
The confrontation reportedly stemmed from persistent sledging, with Aneesh allegedly engaging in constant chatter that appeared to frustrate the J&K skipper. The situation escalated quickly before match officials stepped in to restore order.

After the over concluded, Dogra approached Aneesh in an apparent attempt to apologise. However, tensions continued as senior Karnataka players KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal were seen engaging in verbal exchanges with the J&K captain.
The flashpoint came amid an otherwise resilient innings from Dogra. On the opening day, he had been struck on the helmet by a delivery from Vijaykumar Vyshak while on nine runs and was retired hurt. He returned to bat on Day 2 and compiled a composed 70 off 166 deliveries, laced with nine boundaries.
At Tea on Day 2, Jammu and Kashmir were placed strongly at 478 for 6 in their first innings against eight-time champions Karnataka, holding the upper hand in what marks a landmark moment in the state’s cricket history.
