The Man Who Sold Wisdom

In a bustling town lived a young man named Hamid.

He was poor.

Not because he was lazy—

But because he believed in something strange:

“Knowledge is more valuable than money.”

One day, tired of being mocked for his poverty, Hamid set up a small stall in the market.

But instead of fruits or cloth…

He hung a wooden sign:

“WISDOM FOR SALE”

People gathered instantly.

“A fool has finally lost his mind!” someone laughed.

“Who buys wisdom?” another joked.

But Hamid sat quietly.

Waiting.

After a while, a rich merchant stopped by.

“What kind of nonsense is this?” he asked.

Hamid replied calmly,
“Not nonsense, sir. Advice that can save your life.”

The merchant smirked.

“Fine. Sell me some wisdom.”

Hamid leaned forward and said:

“Never reveal everything you know.”

The merchant frowned.

“That’s it?”

“Yes,” Hamid said. “Price: 100 coins.”

The crowd burst into laughter.

“100 coins for one sentence!”

But the merchant, slightly intrigued, paid.

Days passed.

The merchant returned, curious.

“Give me more,” he said.

Hamid nodded.

“Never act in anger.”

“Another 100 coins.”

This time, the merchant didn’t laugh.

He paid again.

Months passed.

The merchant became a regular customer.

Each time, Hamid gave short, simple advice—

  • “Think before you speak.”

  • “Do not trust blindly.”

  • “Patience reveals truth.”

Each time—

100 coins.

People mocked the merchant.

“You’re being fooled!” they said.

But the merchant would only smile.

Years later—

One night—

The merchant returned home early.

And froze.

Inside his house…

He saw his most trusted servant…

standing close to his wife.

Whispering.

Rage exploded inside him.

He grabbed his sword.

“Betrayal!”

He was about to strike—

When suddenly…

A thought flashed in his mind.

“Never act in anger.”

His hand stopped.

His breath slowed.

“Explain,” he said coldly.

The servant fell to his knees.

“Master! I was only delivering a message from your brother—he has arrived unexpectedly!”

The merchant turned.

His wife nodded nervously.

“It’s true.”

Silence filled the room.

The sword slipped from his hand.

That night, the merchant sat alone, shaken.

If he had acted one second earlier…

He would have destroyed his own life.

The next morning, he rushed to the market.

Hamid was still there.

Older. Calm. Waiting.

The merchant placed a heavy bag of gold before him.

“This is for all the wisdom you sold me,” he said.

Hamid smiled.

“No,” he replied softly.

“This is for the one you finally used.”
