Two Alleged Drug Peddlers Held with Charas in Srinagar Night Operation

Srinagar, May 10, KNT: Police Station Kothibagh arrested two alleged drug peddlers during a night operation in the Chinar Bagh locality of Dalgate in Srinagar and recovered charas from their possession, officials said on Saturday.

The accused were identified as Hanan Ahmad Shah, son of Late Javed Ahmad Shah, and Musib Ahmad Lone, son of Abdul Hamid Lone. Both are residents of the Kawdara area of old Srinagar city.

Officials said the arrests were made during a late-night operation conducted by police in the area as part of ongoing anti-narcotics measures.

During the operation, police allegedly recovered charas from the possession of the accused persons, following which both were taken into custody.

Police have registered a case under FIR No. 34/2026 under Sections 8/20 and 29 of the NDPS Act along with relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Officials said further investigation has been initiated to ascertain possible links and the source of the narcotic substance.

Police said anti-drug operations would continue across Srinagar as part of efforts to curb narcotics trafficking and substance abuse. [KNT]
