Reasi, Sep 14, KNT: Two persons were killed and seven others injured after a passenger matador overturned near the Bakkal tunnel along the Reasi-Bakkal road on Monday morning, officials said.

The vehicle, bearing registration number JK14B-2973, was travelling from Bakkal towards Reasi when it overturned on the hilly road near the tunnel.

According to officials, one passenger died at the spot, while another succumbed to injuries while being shifted to hospital.

Seven injured persons were evacuated to District Hospital Reasi, where two were declared dead on arrival. Two critically injured persons were referred to Jammu for specialized treatment, while the remaining injured were treated at the hospital for minor injuries.

Police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident. Officials said possible loss of control or a tyre-related problem may be among the factors being examined.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed grief over the loss of lives and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families. He also directed the authorities to ensure the best possible medical treatment for those injured in the accident.
