Updated: Two Brothers Drown in Jhelum in Bijbehara, Bodies Retrieved

Anantnag, April 13, KNT: Two brothers who had gone missing after slipping into the Jhelum river in Bijbehara area of Anantnag were found dead, with their bodies retrieved from the river, officials said on Monday.

The incident had occurred near Padshahi Bagh when the duo slipped into the river while washing their sheep, triggering a rescue operation.

The development marks a tragic end to the search efforts launched by police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams, who had been combing the river stretch since the incident.

Officials identified the deceased as Shahid Malik and Majid Malik, residents of Jablipora village. Both were brothers.

Their bodies were shifted to Sub-District Hospital Bijbehara for postmortem examination.

Police and SDRF teams had rushed to the spot soon after the incident and initiated search operations, which continued until the bodies were recovered.
