US Troops Killed, Over 150 Wounded as Iran Conflict Widens; Missile and Proxy Attacks Hit Israeli Cities

At least seven United States soldiers have been killed and more than 140 wounded in the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran, as retaliatory missile and drone attacks and regional proxy strikes expand the fighting across the Middle East, according to officials and international media reports.

Most of the US casualties occurred after Iranian missile and drone attacks targeted American military facilities in Gulf countries and other parts of the region, while Israeli cities have also faced repeated strikes from Iran and allied groups.

The fighting marks one of the most dangerous escalations in the region in recent years, drawing in multiple countries and increasing fears of a broader regional war.

Military sources said the majority of US injuries were caused by blast waves and shrapnel during missile and drone strikes on military bases. Several soldiers reportedly suffered traumatic brain injuries during the attacks.

One of the deadliest incidents occurred when a drone strike hit a US command facility in Kuwait, killing six American soldiers. Another US soldier later died of injuries sustained in an Iranian attack on a military installation in Saudi Arabia.

American military officials say Iranian forces and allied groups have targeted at least 17 US facilities across the Middle East since the escalation began.

Israel has also suffered casualties as Iranian missiles and rockets launched by allied groups struck several areas. Israeli authorities say at least two soldiers have been killed while more than a dozen civilians died in missile strikes targeting towns and cities.

Thousands of Israeli civilians have been injured during the attacks, with emergency services reporting more than 2,700 people treated for wounds or blast injuries since the beginning of the conflict.

Several of the strikes targeted areas near Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. While Israel’s missile defence systems intercepted many incoming projectiles, some missiles managed to hit populated areas, causing fatalities and property damage.

Hezbollah, the Iran-aligned armed group based in Lebanon, has also intensified rocket and drone attacks against Israel, opening another front in the conflict. Israeli officials say two soldiers were killed during Hezbollah strikes near the northern border.

The wider conflict has now spread beyond Iran and Israel, with attacks and military responses reported across Lebanon, Iraq, Syria and several Gulf states where US forces maintain bases.

Iran has relied heavily on ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and armed drones to target US and Israeli positions. Analysts say Tehran has also activated allied militia groups across the region, significantly expanding the battlefield.

The escalating confrontation has resulted in significant casualties beyond US and Israeli forces. Reports indicate that more than 1,300 civilians have been killed inside Iran since the conflict intensified, while hundreds of people have died in Lebanon during Israeli strikes against Hezbollah positions.

Security analysts warn that the war could widen further if additional regional actors become involved. The conflict has already raised concerns about potential disruptions to global oil supplies, particularly if tensions spread to strategic waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz.

Rising oil prices and shipping risks in the Gulf region have already begun affecting global energy markets.

Political pressure is also mounting inside the United States, where lawmakers and analysts are questioning the long-term strategy behind the military engagement and the risks of deeper involvement in a prolonged regional conflict.

Experts warn that even if large-scale battles subside, Iran may continue to target US and Israeli interests through cyber operations, missile programs and proxy warfare across the Middle East.

The continuing exchange of strikes and the involvement of multiple armed groups have raised fears that the confrontation could evolve into a prolonged regional conflict with far-reaching geopolitical and economic consequences.
