Delhi Police have arrested a bus driver and conductor after a woman alleged that she was gang-raped inside a stationary sleeper bus in northwest Delhi’s Rani Bagh area, officials said.
According to police, the alleged incident took place on Monday night.
The survivor, employed at a factory in Mangolpuri and residing in a slum cluster in Pitampura, alleged in her complaint that she was sexually assaulted by two men inside the bus.
Police said the accused, identified as the bus driver and conductor, have been taken into custody and the vehicle allegedly used in the crime has been seized.
Investigators said the woman was returning home from work when the sleeper bus stopped near a bus stand in Saraswati Vihar.
According to preliminary investigation details, the woman approached a man standing near the bus door to ask for the time, after which she was allegedly forced into the vehicle.
Police said the bus was then driven towards Nangloi, where the alleged assault took place.

Following medical examination of the survivor, an FIR was registered and both accused were arrested, officials said.
Delhi Police said further investigation is underway and all possible aspects of the case are being examined.
The incident has once again triggered debate over women’s safety in the national capital, particularly concerning public transport and isolated areas during night hours.
The case has also revived memories of the 2012 Delhi gang rape case, widely known as the Nirbhaya case, which had sparked nationwide outrage and major legal reforms related to crimes against women. [KNT]
