Srinagar, May 19, KNT: Youth activist Sahil Paaray on Tuesday questioned the recently issued JKPSC Physics Lecturer selection list, alleging inadequate representation of Kashmir-based candidates and demanding greater transparency in recruitment and category certification processes.

the category-wise selection list, including Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Scheduled Caste (SC), and ALC categories, and claimed that no Kashmiri candidate figured in several of these categories.

The remarks came after the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) issued the Physics Lecturer selection list, triggering discussion among aspirants and sections of youth on social media and academic circles.

Paaray alleged that the outcome had intensified concerns among unemployed youth in Kashmir, where he said government employment remained the principal avenue for professional opportunities.

“This is not some private company rejecting our youth. This is the J&K Public Service Commission, a government body accountable to the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Paaray said.

The issue assumes significance against the backdrop of limited private sector employment opportunities in Kashmir and continued dependence of educated youth on government recruitment.

Paaray argued that the absence of a substantial private sector, corporate hiring ecosystem, or large-scale technology industry in Kashmir made public employment particularly important for job seekers.

“Government job is not a preference here, it is the only option,” he said, alleging that employment opportunities were increasingly shrinking for local youth.

The youth activist also questioned the process through which EWS certificates are issued and sought greater transparency and verification.

“Who is issuing these EWS certificates? On what basis? Is there any verification happening or is it just paperwork?” he asked.

Paaray demanded scrutiny of recruitment procedures and called for justice and accountability from authorities.

The criticism also carried political overtones as Paaray said institutions responsible for recruitment were accountable to the elected government.

No immediate response from the JKPSC or the Jammu and Kashmir government regarding the allegations was available.

The Physics Lecturer selection list has since become a subject of debate among aspirants and youth groups, with some calling for clarification regarding category-wise representation and selection procedures.

Further official reaction was awaited. [KNT]
