Beerwah, April 15, KNT: Residents of Beerwah have raised concerns over a defunct sewer suction machine, locally known as a “sucker car,” lying idle at the Municipal Committee premises for the past eight months, affecting sanitation services in the area.
The machine, meant to handle drainage and sanitation needs across nearly 40 villages under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Committee Beerwah, has remained non-functional, leading to disruption of essential services, residents said.

Locals alleged that despite the importance of the equipment, authorities have failed to take timely action to restore it, resulting in mounting sanitation challenges. They said the prolonged breakdown has caused inconvenience and raised questions over the efficiency of the civic body.
Residents emphasized that keeping such a critical machine out of service for months is unacceptable, particularly when proper sanitation is directly linked to public health and hygiene.
An official from the Municipal Committee Beerwah acknowledged the issue, stating that the machine had developed a technical fault. “The machine is out of order, and we have already submitted a report for its repair,” the official said.
Locals have urged authorities to expedite the repair process or arrange a replacement to ensure that sanitation and drainage services are restored without further delay. [KNT]
