Leh, July 15, KNT: Police in Leh have solved a major burglary case by arresting two accused and recovering a substantial portion of the stolen property, including gold ornaments, traditional Ladakhi jewellery, silver articles, electronic gadgets and other valuables, officials said.

The burglary was reported after unknown persons allegedly broke into a residence at Choglamsar on June 11 and decamped with cash, jewellery, electronic items and other valuables belonging to the family. Following a complaint lodged by the house owner, Stanzin Wangyal, Police Station Leh registered FIR No. 117/2026 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched an investigation.

Police said a special investigation team led by the Incharge of Police Post Choglamsar and the investigating officer was constituted under the supervision of senior district officers. Investigators relied on technical evidence, human intelligence and sustained field investigation, which ultimately led to the identification and arrest of the two suspects.

During the investigation, police recovered a significant portion of the stolen property from the possession of the accused. The recovered articles include traditional Ladakhi ornaments such as Hue turquoise necklaces, Churu coral beads, Perak ornaments, silver jewellery, gold ornaments, Dzi beads, gemstones, electronic gadgets, bags, camera accessories and other valuables.

According to police, the recovered property has been identified by the complainant and his family members during the course of the investigation. Efforts are continuing to ascertain whether the accused were involved in any other similar offences in the district.
